Associate Electrical Engineer (Temporary/Part-Time)

The Electro-Optics Systems Division of Physical Optics Corporation has an immediate opportunity for an Associate Electrical Engineer (Intern) to develop, create, and modify custom electronics. The successful candidate will have 2+ years of direct FPGA programming, micro-controller (C, C++, or Java), PCB layout, testing, and debugging, Android program development, and/or hands-on electronics assembly experience.

The Associate Electrical Engineer will be responsible for analyzing user needs (requirements), developing efficient solutions, and ensuring that performance/ operational specifications are met by working closely with senior electrical engineers. This individual will also work with leads in development teams to define tasks and develop the project plan.


Analyze user needs and develop requirements list

Hands-on FPGA programming, micro-controller (C, C++, or Java), PCB layout, testing, debugging, Android program development, and/or electronics assembly.

Work with hardware designers to influence overall system design

Help to implement, verify firmware/software on embedded system; debug firmware/software systems issues

Document results.


Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.

2+ years experience writing clean and robust code (C++, Microsoft Visual C++ and others) for applications for Windows and/or Linux.

Experience with firmware and hardware issues from a system-level viewpoint is a plus.

Ability to commit and work under deadlines.

Must be able to work in a challenging and engaging work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, accountability, and professional development.
