ALSTOM Grid â€“ Network Management Solutions, the leader in providing software and services to the Electric Utility Industry has an opening for an Onsite Support Engineer at a customer in Miami, Florida. As Onsite Support Engineer, you will: Under direct supervision, performs customer support activities involving the installation, modification, repair and training on use of complex software systems.
In this position you will be responsible to:
Assist in project delivery by receiving and completing task assignments from the project manager.
Follow established policies and procedures in conducting custom development, on-site installation, and testing of system.
After project delivery, transition to a support role by providing on-site support at customerâ€™s direction.
Providing training on ALSTOM software to customer staff to help them understand how to use the product properly.
Keep Project Manager and/or Product Manager advised of technical developments and issues.
Provide liaison between the customerâ€™s staff and ALSTOM.
Complete, maintain, and process pertinent paperwork and records.
Work toward becoming an expert in one or more subsystems or technology such that training, customization and consulting can be provided.
Perform basic code fixes for bugs, which do not require re-design of correction.
Work at a customer site when needed.
Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
Requires Bachelorâ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience.
Must have basic understanding of distribution management systems, software systems, and energy management systems.
Must have basic understanding of hardware and software configurations in a real-time environment.
Some programming experience and familiarity with basic database operations.
Must be able to accept short term and long term assignments that may require relocation or the use of temporary housing.
Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Good PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office applications.
Ability to shift work efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrates a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs.
