This is an entry level position.
The candidate will be involved in the design and development of embedded software for our next generation carrier class Ethernet switches. This position will focus on management plane software which controls highly redundant and reliable terabit systems. These systems utilize the latest in hardware and emerging technologies in order to maintain the ever growing demand for high speed, high volume traffic with little or no service disruption. As the world transitions to IPv6, the candidate will be implementing the latest protocols and developing system components that provide chassis and database management, non-service affecting software upgrades, alarm and health services, IP interfaces and optimized high speed backplane communications for multi-blade chassis. As part of a highly successful software development team, the candidate will be introduced to useful tools and resources that will help them grow both professionally and personally. Work with the team to understand the product requirements and hardware design
Translate product requirements into functional requirements and create functional specifications.
Create software designs to meet functional requirements
Create automated tests to verify functional requirements
Implement and test embedded software modules
Utilize software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting network performance.
Work with the system test team to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Problem solving skills
Must be willing to work in a high energy rapid development environment
Must be self motivated and willing to learn new skills and technologies as needed
C and C++ programming skills is desirable
Real time operating systems or embedded Linux
Linux device drivers
Computer networking technologies
High Availability system architectures
IPv6 and related protocols
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
BSCS or BSEE
Educational experience with programming and scripting
The anticipated start date for this position is May 2013; however we may have some earlier start dates available. You must be available for full-time employment by this date.
