We are looking for a creative leader who will be responsible for providing the overall technical leadership and strategy for the business, playing a key role in achieving our overall growth plans.-This leader of Engineering is responsible for building and leading the team that designs, develops, delivers and supports the automated retail kiosk solution.-He/she will pull from their strong and thorough technology leadership experience to oversee the development of the software/hardware systems and the overall technology platform.-Coinstar's culture is supported by company values that are an essential part our company's success.-It is a function of this role to ensure our values are an intricate part of the team; guiding what we do and how we do it. The Leader of Engineering will report directly to the general manager of the new venture.-Summary of Key Responsibilities:----------Create a clear technology roadmap connecting vision to technology including setting aggressive but realistic project schedules----------Identify, evaluate and select new and emerging technologies that can be assimilated within the company and significantly improve competitiveness----------Able to think like a customer, using in-depth knowledge of Automated Retail (self-service) products and their market to better link technology strategy to the business strategy and create a better customer experience.----------Direct the prioritization, analysis, design, development, testing and release of all products.----------Design and lead recruiting to expand the technology organization as well as mentor and develop the current technology team----------Develop an environment of innovation.----------Responsible for the development and management of the Patent and Intellectual Property portfolio.----------Work with GM to understand business drivers, market requirements and competitive issues that may impact departmental strategies.----------Understand the technology strategies of the other Coinstar Inc. companies and look for opportunities to work together and leverage-their technology to improve our platform-Qualifications & Experience:----------The equivalent education and training to a BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.-Advanced technical degree; MBA preferred----------This position requires a minimum of 10 to 12 years of technology leadership experience overseeing the development of software/hardware systems----------Proven ability to bring meaningful innovation in both hardware and software engineering environments.----------Must have experience creating differentiation and competitive advantage through architecture, system, solution and software/hardware strategies.-----------Preferred experience with consumer-oriented self-service user interface design and implementation (making complex self-service consumer transactions easy to understand and execute).----------Able to balance the role of strategist with urgency while simultaneously managing the delivery of results in a growing and very fast paced environment.----------The successful candidate will be a superb and persuasive coordinator, with both technical and business communities throughout the organization and externally with partners.----------The ability to respond aggressively to changing trends and new technologies to leverage new market opportunities and implement new products.----------Most importantly, the ideal candidate will be a team builder, team player and a leader.-The ideal candidate will have the personal drive, passion and enthusiasm to both understand and successfully navigate a fast-growing company striving toward market domination in an evolving marketplace.----------Startup experience is very desirable----------Demonstrated resourcefulness in getting things done-In addition to a rewarding career, Coinstar offers excellent employee benefits and competitive compensation.
