This position is a critical role within the Ion Torrent business Unit.

Opportunity for exceptional software developer with extensive high performance computing experience, who is highly creative and productive, lives to code, and wants to build and ship software for a disruptive technology.

Job responsibilities include:Development of software for DNA and RNA mapping Develop algorithms and implementations to improve speed and accuracy of mappingWork with software engineers specializing in GPU and/or FPGA development to accelerate mapping Extend mapping techniques to model new data types including long (400bp+) read lengths and paired end mappingEssential skills and background include:Experience in bioinformatics, with expertise in DNA and/or RNA sequence alignment considered a plusOutstanding C/C++ coding skills, experience with common processes and tools used in commercial software developmentMastery of Linux development environmentExpertise in the handling of huge (terabyte-sized) datasets.Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with other software developers.
