Job Description:
The IT Application Manager for the Business Enterprise Systems Team manages the Development and Operations areas. Manager's role is to plan, coordinate, and supervise activities related to the management and implementation of business support information systems/software applications for Lawson ERP, Kronos, Maximo and other integrated third part systems. They will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and support of existing enterprise systems and applications. This individual will apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide their team on issues related to the design, development, deployment, and support of mission-critical information and software systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead IT Applications operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.

Ensure that projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve system issues.

Review and analyze existing application effectiveness and efficiency, and develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.

Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage best practices. Stay abreast of the latest developments in information technology and business functional support areas.

Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements and adheres to documented policies, standards and procedures.

Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners through the Software Development Lifecycle.

Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.

Manages daily function operations of assigned area, ensure continuity of services. Prepares long and short-range goals to meet corporate objectives.

Ensures quality of services provided. Develops and implements policies and procedures for assigned area.

Responsible for the supervision of assigned staff; duties include hire, train, mentor, corrective actions, maintenance of work schedules, authorizing time off requests, and performance evaluations.

Responsible for analyzing resource requirements of the department, and developing recommendations for staffing levels with supporting justification documentation.

Responsible for assisting with the department budget, tracking expenditures, and purchase of office supplies, with budget authority as delegated for assigned areas.

Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department heads, support staff, and end users.

Analyzes business needs using a broad based understanding of systems relationships, estimating work required by task, determining the proper sequence of tasks, assigning tasks to staff and overseeing detailed project/work plan.

Works in partnership with IT Customer Support Manager's business analyst team, to analyze business requirements and prepare detailed system design specifications. Additionally, partner with other IT teams (Office of Project Management, Web Services, Interfaces, etc. to implement large scale projects.

Continually strives to automate operational tasks, improve monitoring and incident reaction times, and reduce unplanned work and unplanned system downtimes.

Utilizes the application life cycle approach for all phases of work: scope, requirements, design, build, test, implementation and monitoring of effectiveness. Works closely with customer and other It teams to solve issues.

Performs other duties as assigned.

IT Applications Manager - BES team Development and Operations

Reports to IT Business Applications Director and responsible for managing the IT Development and Operations team activities with supervisory responsibilities for all staff assigned to the team.

Continually look for opportunities to improve performance and up-time of operational systems. Establish metrics to measure the health of the system and show adherence to service level agreements.

Strong knowledge of system development and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.

Ensure all Development work goes through essential Unit Testing and that the Design Specification fully captures and illustrates how the solution meets the documented Requirements.

Ensure all work goes through a formal Transition to Operations process that fully documents the Support Plan for the system.

Ensure all changes to the production system are managed through the Change Control process and adhere to the principal of least privilege for all personnel access to systems.

Provide project management oversight for ongoing operational patches and updates. Maintain strong vendor relationship to support resolution of production incidents, assist with change requests, and plan for future version updates.

Ensure team reacts promptly to evening production incidents and assists Business Analyst team with support of daytime issues. Perform Problem Management of reported issues to identify potential improvement opportunities.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or relevant field, equivalent education/experience may substitute for degree.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

Minimum of five or more years experience in Information Technology with at least one year of supervisory or administrative project leadership experience

Experience managing small teams or departments. Additional experience with large teams is a plus.

Knowledge of current software applications and trends in information technology as related to healthcare
