Major ResponsibilitiesIon Torrent /Life Technologies is an industry leader in genetic analysis systems, and is an integral part in shaping discovery and improving life.
Successful candidates will be part of a dedicated team of scientists and engineers working on Life Technologies Ion Torrent sequencing platform, responsible for developing our commercial software products supporting sequencing instruments and data analysis workflows.
This full-time position is based in our South San Francisco, CA office.ResponsibilitiesDesign, prototype, maintain and implement software systems and components Work with other software groups, firmware developers and electrical engineers, on leading-edge hardware developmentWork closely with other software and test teams and collaborate with R&D scientistsWork with QC team to review and fix defectsParticipate in software design reviews and code reviews Skills/Knowledge Requirements
Bachelors or Masters in computer science
or related field.Must have 5+ years of solid experience with commercial software development in a Linux environment. Must have experience with firmwaredevice communication and instrument control software. Experience with embedded system is a plus.Must be proficient in multiple SW languages (C/C++, java, Python), architecture, scripting, debugging and optimization tools, unit testingMust have experience with SDLC methodologies, software test frameworks and tool sets. Must have solid understanding of basic algorithms and capable of developing & modifying algorithm related modules.
Familiarity with linux kernel and be able to understand and modify drivers in user and kernel space.Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Medical device software background will be a plus.
