Associate Systems Administrator
Kroll Ontrack
Job Description: This position will provide Kroll Ontrack, Inc. with a
point of performance and accountability with respect to the 24x7
production processing hardware/software. This individual will take
ownership of and responsibility for the all of production processing
devices. This includes, but is not limited to, workstations, PC blades,
OS levels, application images, 3rd party software packages, network
connectivity, server access and license compliance. This individual
provides first-level support for the end-users in regards to the
production processing equipment.
As an Associate Systems Administrator, this position is responsible for
creating/maintaining standards throughout the production processing
environment; this includes, but is not limited to: creating software
images, effective use of Group Policies within Windows 2000 and XP, PC
blade hardware, image process, maintenance, etc. This position is
responsible for maintaining all Kroll Ontrack, Inc. best practices and
keeping current of all related technologies and how they may benefit
Kroll Ontrack, Inc.
Responsibilities
?Perform technical support for all production processing
hardware/software to meet/exceed established guidelines and business
objectives regarding production processing infrastructure availability.
This includes compliance with purchasing policies, licensing practices,
coordinating maintenance times, etc.
?Perform 1st level problem resolution in an effective and timely manner
to maintain our SLA’s (Service Level Agreements). Escalate to 2nd and
3rd level support as needed.
?Create written standards and documented procedures, performing
cross-training as needed, throughout the production processing
environment for new implementations, maintenance and upgrades.
?Produce/distribute storage allocation reports on a regular and timely
basis. Maintain accurate reports on storage allocation for the Legal
Technologies IT enterprise.
?Perform tasks as required to coordinate the allocation of storage for
new and existing jobs to ensure that storage is allocated as needed to
keep jobs processing at their optimal level.
?Assist the Technical Architecture team in the development of
operational processes and procedures to monitor the health and
utilization of IT production systems - including servers/storage/SAN
and desktop technologies.
?Execute and maintain the operational procedures for all of the Legal
Technologies production systems, involving documenting results
following the execution of operational procedures, recording successes,
and initiating problem resolution in cases as needed.
?Participate in multiple projects/tasks and follow IT project/task
procedures. Demonstrate time management and prioritization skills to
accommodate dynamic business requirements while managing scheduled
activities.
?This position requires participation in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation.
On-call requires carrying a cell-phone and responding to calls within
the agreed upon timeframe set within our Service Level Agreements.
Internet connectivity from home is required as part of the on-call
rotation. Less than 5% travel may be required with this position.
Qualifications: ?Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related
field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience along
with one or more years experience supporting an IT 24x7 Microsoft
production environment.
?Fluent understanding of Windows 2000/2003 and XP Group Policies
?Understanding of Netbackup, Commvault and backup/restore best
practices
?Understanding of deployment tools and practices
?Understanding of supporting a 24x7 production environment including
Windows 200x, XP, NT workstations, PC blades, printers, networking and
server connectivity
?Knowledge of storage technologies ? SAN, NAS, DAS
?Strong detail orientation with excellent organizational and time
management skills.
?Quality and customer focus with creative and analytical problem
solving/troubleshooting skills.
?Effective communication and interpersonal skills to adapt to a rapidly
changing environment
?Ability to work effectively in a business emergency situation
?Understanding of hardware/software upgrades, installations,
maintenance and troubleshooting
?Understanding of problem management and change control processes is
desired
?Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work within a campus environment,
where support may occur in one or more buildings
