Maryland Student Nursing Association President Talks to President Obama about Healthcare

By Mike Fernald on June 26, 2009

All of us at AfterCollege are proud of Hershaw Davis, President of the Maryland Association of Nursing Students, one of our partnering organizations. Hershaw was at the White House Wednesday night and participated in ABC Prime Time’s ‘Prescription for America’ discussion with President Barack Obama, Diane Sawyer, and Charles Gibson.

The topic of discussion was healthcare reform, and included an audience of 164 individuals. Hershaw asked President Obama about improving primary care, and how to lessen the reliance on emergency rooms as the first point of entry for primary care.

“I appreciated the opportunity to contribute to a discussion as important as healthcare reform. It was an honor talking to the President of the United States,“ said Hershaw Davis. “I also thank AfterCollege for the introduction that facilitated my visit to the White House.“

You can see the full discussion, including Hershaw’s question by following this URL (Hershaw is featured during the last 30 seconds of the first video and at the beginning of the second video):
