AfterCollege’s Career Network Reach Expands to Over 12,000 Academic Departments and Student Groups
November 08, 2005
San Francisco, CA - November 8th, 2005 - AfterCollege, Inc., the nation’s largest career network specializing in recruitment at the college level, announced today that it has expanded its network to deliver targeted job content to over 12,000 academic departments and student groups at colleges and universities throughout the United States. The company’s network consists of over 1,300 private-label online Job Resource Centers as well as a proprietary database of over 15,000 academic contacts who receive targeted job announcements for their students. This enables AfterCollege to deliver job content to students from employers who are interested in their specific skill sets. Employers who participate in the AfterCollege network, in turn, are able to hone their job opportunities and recruitment message to a larger percentage of their target audiences within a given campus.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nearly half of the working population over the age of 25 will reach retirement age within the next two decades. The aging workforce has put more emphasis on college recruiting as a source for talent and will continue to do so in the years to come. Some industries, including healthcare and high tech have already started adapting their strategies to make college recruiting a more prominent part of their efforts.
“AfterCollege continues to develop tools to help students and recent graduates sort through the most relevant opportunities out of a myriad of information,“ stated Roberto Angulo, CEO of AfterCollege, Inc. “Our goal is to continue building upon our technology and delivery mechanisms to ensure that students receive the most up-to-date and relevant information from employers who are interested in engaging them”.
This year, over 800 employers have actively utilized the AfterCollege Career Network to reach college students, compared to 650 employers last year. Eighty four percent of AfterCollege’s student audience has GPAs of 3.0 and higher with degrees ranging from Associate degrees to PhDs.
“AfterCollege offers a unique service that has allowed Shell to target universities with depth and precision—going straight to the heart of the source where candidates look for career opportunities. AfterCollege helped us meet our recruitment targets—for both our broad needs as well as specialized, niche positions” stated Julie Hur Pascoe, who managed Shell Oil’s Campus Recruiting & University Relations for 2005 Graduates.
