Enhancing Quality
- Our network implemented new recommendations of our Blue Ribbon Team to help ensure every patient's care is the absolute best. As a result, we achieved substantive improvements in our quality measures, including a 112 percent increase in the number of measures that rank as high as those of our nation's top performers.
- We further expanded our eICU® patient-safety system to complete, on-time, our implementation of this lifesaving technology. In doing so, we brought the total number of beds being monitored to 359 across our network of hospitals.
- The federal accrediting agency selected Sutter Health for this prominent recognition because our network is an excellent example of how a health system can use technology to enhance and improve patient safety.
- Data from a groundbreaking study about the quality and efficiency of health care showed that doctors and hospitals affiliated with our Sutter Health network provide patients more efficient and consistent care than other health systems around the state.
- Six Sutter Health affiliates were among just 22 hospitals statewide recognized for outstanding commitment to health care quality and patient safety by The Leapfrog Group. The "Excellence in Patient Safety & Health Care Quality Award" was based on results from the prominent Leapfrog Group Hospital Quality and Safety Survey. These Sutter-affiliated hospitals were given the distinction:
- Alta Bates Summit Medical Center - Alta Bates Campus in Berkeley
- Mills-Peninsula Health Services in Burlingame
- Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital
- Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport
- Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento
- Sutter Roseville Medical Center
- Sutter Health became one of the first health care systems in California to make critical quality data available to everyone online by creating a special section on our Web site. The section openly shares information about how our network stands up to key measures of quality in comparison to state and national standards.
- We launched our Sutter Express Care medical clinics in Rite Aid stores in the greater Sacramento area. These clinics provide another option for consumers seeking convenient and affordable solutions for their immediate health care needs.
- We invested $192 million in capital improvement projects completed during 2006 to improve the health care infrastructure in communities all around Northern California.
- For the fourth year in a row, we were recognized as the top fundraising team in Northern California for the March of Dimes. Since 1997, Sutter Health and our generous affiliates have raised over $2.3 million in support of the March of Dimes' lifesaving research and programs.
- Sutter Health was awarded a $6.1 million grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to expand and develop model patient safety programs over the next four years. The grant is believed to be one of the largest single awards for patient safety ever provided to a U.S. health care system. Our network was selected for our long-term dedication to quality improvement. We matched the award, bringing the total dedicated funds to more than $12 million.
Quality Transformations
At Sutter Health, we're working to transform the care we provide to achieve the highest levels of health care access and quality - all at a great value. And the first step is listening. Like never before, we're spending a tremendous amount of focused time and effort in listening to our patients and their families. We're capturing their feelings, desires and needs, so we may interpret those ideas into the best approach to care at the bedside, in the doctor's office or even on the telephone. We're responding, adapting and transforming care to make sure every patient experience is the best it can be - each and every time.
We have made significant leaps in patient safety and health care quality, expanded our physician infrastructure, created new points of access for patients, enhanced our model support programs for the uninsured and continued to invest in our top resource - our employees. But we won't stop here; we'll continue listening and transforming.
Quality Partnerships
We believe that the special camaraderie that comes with trust is the key to quality patient care. Sutter Health physicians, nurses and allied health professionals have elevated collaboration to an art to meet the recovery care needs of our patients. Enjoy working where you want to live - with market-competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, the quality of life you richly deserve, and exciting health care opportunities…in your own community.
