The National Security Agency (NSA) is a world leader in the protection and exploitation of intelligence. We gather and analyze foreign signals intelligence to produce vital information for U.S. policymakers and warfighters. And we protect American intelligence from the ever-listening ears of our adversaries, giving our Nation a decisive edge.

NSA is world leader in many technology fields and conducts one of the U.S. Government's leading research and development programs. We are also the largest employer of Mathematicians in the country, as well as one of the most important centers of foreign language analysis and research.

The NSA Mission

NSA is responsible for carrying out two of the Nation's most important and sensitive intelligence activities SSignals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Information Assurance (IA).

SIGINT involves intercepting, decrypting, and analyzing foreign adversaries' communications to produce intelligence that gives the Nation an information advantage. We are also responsible for the protection of U.S. Government information systems. Together the two missions promote a single goal: information superiority for America and its allies.

Training and Development Programs

Expanding your intelligence is a priority at NSA. Our National Cryptologic School addresses the professional and technical development of NSA employees and provides the unique training needed by both the NSA workforce and several elements throughout the Department of Defense.
